Electronic music artist 7Hz Research needed a Logo and some cover art for various projects and releases.
Understanding their name and what it meant to them led to an exploration of different ways to represent their image.
The ‘Research’ part was left off because it made the logo more difficult to use. I looked at different ways to use the negative space, as well as exploring alignments, cuts, and additional iconography.
Because the logo was so hard-edged, I chose to use photography as background imagery so I went around the town where the artist is based trying to capture interesting textures.
Finally, a lot of their early personality was built around a fictitious robot so I created an ‘eye’ image that was used to give some dynamics to the logo and for use in promotional assets
